PHYSIOTHERAPY SERVICES DURING CORONAVIRUS


Your physiotherapist has completed a clinical triage and risk assessment, which helped them determine that your condition warrants a face to face consultation, despite the risk of coronavirus infection.


All precautions to prevent and control the risk of infection have been observed for this consultation to take place.


  • The physiotherapist will have a temperature check and undertake COVID screening daily.
  • The physiotherapist will be wearing personal protective garments (apron/gloves/fluid resistant mask +/- visor) during the consultation. This is changed after each patient.
  • The room is thoroughly cleaned between each patient and a deep clean is performed at the end of the day.
  • There will be a 15-30 minute gap in between each appointment to allow cleaning, change of PPE and the room to be ventilated.


Prior to your appointment:


  • Please go to your own bathroom prior to attending your session as this will reduce your risk of infection by not requiring to use the shared facilities
  • Please wear a face covering to your appointment. A mask can be purchased for £2 if you do not have one.
  • If you are attending for a lower limb issue, please arrive in your shorts or have them on underneath your clothes.
  • Please attend your appointment alone. Under 16’s will still be required to be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Chaperones will also require to complete COVID screening, wear a face covering and maintain a distance of 2 metres from the physiotherapist.


On arrival at Flexspace:


  • Please call us on arrival at Flexspace from your car. We ask you to stay in your car or outdoors and your physiotherapist will call you back at your appointment time to ask you to come to the door. The waiting area in Flexspace will not be used at this time.
  • You will be asked to wash your hands on your way to the treatment room


During your appointment:


  • The COVID screening and consent form will be completed at each session.
  • Your consultation will firstly include detailed discussion about your condition and this will be socially distanced at a minimum of 2m apart.
  • During the physical examination the physiotherapist may require to touch you or be closer than 2 metres to you. This will be for a short a period as possible.
  • Following your assessment, a course of treatment may be recommended, which may be provided by attending the clinic or virtually by telephone or video calling. Your physiotherapist will discuss and agree treatment plans with you.


After your appointment:


  • You will be asked to wash your hands or use hand sanitiser on leaving the building
  • Payment can be made via internet banking. If paying in cash, please have the exact amount in an envelope.
